Wai has over 20 years of extensive biopharma experience with deep expertise in ophthalmology, covering preclinical and clinical research, clinical practice, and IND-ready drug development. Wai’s previous professional experiences include VP - Head of Retinal Discovery at Johnson & Johnson, Strategy Leader – Interim Retina DAS at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies (J&J), and Senior Investigator at National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health.

Wai holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis; MD from WashU St. Louis; BS, Biology and BS, Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
